Yuki was comfortable with the car and didn't put together a good lap after opting to go for 1 run. It's only sprint qualifying and he was faster in every session up until that point. We all know P15 isn't representative of where he and the car should be.

At least now he doesn't have the pressure to score points for the team in the sprint and Ricciardo can do his part and try to earn some points.

<---- So every session before this matters but sprint qualifying does not matter? Yep makes sense! Also there was only Practise 1 before sprint qualy. Practise 1 had. Lec 20th Alo 19th Norris in 16th Perez 6th. And yes its clearly a lot more representative of where these drivers should be. They should definitely use Practise 1 for the starting grid in the future and not qualifying sprint/qualifying results. And yes bring in the sprinklers for Sunday's race as well

Don't worry about it.
I was incorrect in thinking Daniel has to serve the penalty in the sprint, which he does not have to. This works out great for points scoring chances.

And yes, it is still only the sprint race.

Mekies on F1TV said they are running more downforce than others so they are slow on straights...
I believe this extra downforce allows them to get back on power earlier and brake late which makes up for the lack of straightine speed.

they maybe double points buy yuki side need to maximise points when car is quick he should be there with ric but for some stupid experiment.mexico last year he didn't maximizes points .last race in abu dhabi they did a stupid strategy.u cant be the hero when car is slow then waste opportunity when fast.starting of soft tire was stupid they lost track of hulk and lewis repassed him.

both drivers only had one set of new mediums left. Ricciardo used it for the sprint, which was logical given the starting spot and tomorrow's penalty, but I guess it made sense to save it for the race with Yuki.

So new softs or used mediums was the only choice, and they probably didn't see much of a chance to score points from P15 anyway.
